&quot;edgy&quot; can mean so many things, that it&#039;s hard to conceptualize what a client may mean by it. Getting a cool concept down can take forever and a day, and it&#039;s super tough churning out concepts like it grows on trees. 

What I&#039;ve found that really helped on design projects (used to be a designer way back) is to get the client mutually involved in the project. It really moved the process a whole lot better!
